NetworkPlay, India’s fastest growing Media company, funded by Capital18 (the venture funding arm of the Network18 Group), has announced its entry into an exclusive advertising sales agreement with India’s second largest DTH service, SUN Direct TV.
The agreement allows NetworkPlay to have exclusive selling and ad-serving rights on all of SUN Direct’s owned and operated properties on its DTH platform. Sun Direct uses the latest MPEG-4 based technology to increase its broadcasting capacity. It also has convergent multi-service capabilities and proven real-time scalability allowing it to enable powerful new service offerings.
Sun Direct has 6.7mn subscribers pan India, with a distinct skew to the South of India which gives it a superior advantage with brands that have a true national footprint inclusive of the South.
Ampreet Singh, co-founder of NetworkPlay, said, “To us, DTH is the only space where there are branding opportunities on an uncluttered platform and we are very glad that we have been the only network which has embarked on this endeavor. Through our experience in evangelizing this space the only way to go was to gun for market leadership. Sun Direct, with its emphatic dominance in the South adds a unique strength to the bouquet of DTH advertising options we offer."
SUN direct was the first to launch HD services on the DTH platform with 5.1 channels Dolby Digital surround sound. Currently, SUN DIRECT offers HD Channels like Movies Now, Discovery World, National Geographic Channel as well as exclusive HD services like Tamil Movie service, Telegu Movie service, Tamil Filmsongs service and Telegu Music service.
Mahesh Kumar, CEO, Sun Direct said “Sun Direct has a large and unique share of the rapidly growing DTH space and has been one of the fastest growing DTH brands in the country today. NetworkPlay’s experience and leverage in the area of DTH advertising gives us the opportunity to monetize this growth in an effective way. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with them.”
