By: iMedia News Bureau

Haresh Chawla, Group CEO of Network18 has resigned after devotin more than a decade to the organisation to pursue other interests. However, he is closely working with Raghav Bahl, Founder & Editor of Network18 and a bunch of young leaders to ensure a seamless transition of leadership across all operations including news & entertainment broadcasting, web portals, publications, filmed entertainment and e-commerce operations and Viacom18.

With an experience spanning close to two decades, Haresh’s expertise lies in building viable and profitable business models around brands – by identifying opportunities, leveraging synergies across platforms, unlocking people value and then using the Network strength to fuel growth. Under his leadership and within a short span of time, both, the Network18 as well as the Viacom18 Group today reaches out to more than 300 million households across platforms - television, print, films, mobile and internet.

The Network18 Group today operates India’s leading business television news services through the CNBC channels (CNBC TV18, CNBC AWAAZ), India’s leading online company WEB 18 (Portals across the content ,transaction & communication space) which is the group’s internet arm as well as India’s leading real time data & information platform, NEWSWIRE 18. The group has also established a leading presence in general news and entertainment with the IBN channels (CNN-IBN, IBN 7 and IBN-Lokmat) and the recently launched Home shopping platform with HomeShop18.

Within 18 months of conceptualising Viacom18, (Network18’s 50:50 JV with Viacom), Haresh has led Network18 to unprecedented growth to put all brands in the Viacom18 Group (MTV, Nick, Vh1 and Studio18) in leadership position, including the very successful launch of COLORS, that broke the 9-year old monopoly in the GEC space. With brands that reach out to all possible demographics, Viacom18 is today India’s leading multimedia entertainment powerhouse.

Given his style of functioning and belief in the fact that people are the most valued asset, Network18 as well as the Viacom18 Group have today become an employer of choice in their respective domains.

Haresh's previous assignments have all been with start-ups including the HCL Group, where he headed business development for HCL Comnet; ABCL, where he set up the Film Distribution Business, and at the Times of India Group where he launched their music label - Times Music.

Haresh is an IIT-Mumbai and IIM-Calcutta alumnus. iMedia Connection wishes him luck for his future endeavours.
