Hari Krishnan, Country Manager of LinkedIn India, tweeted this yesterday!
This announcement has made India the second largest subscriber base for LinkedIn, U.S. being first. In June, it had crossed the milestone of 10 million registered users in India so it has added around 3 million users in the past six months. The website launched its India operations in November 2009 with a base of 3.4 million users, since then it seems to be a gratifying journey for them.
As per data available with the company till November 4, 2011, there were about 13.3 million registered users of LinkedIn in India of a total workforce of 80 million professionals in the country. The company believes that they could drive in this amount of traffic owing to constant engagement through focused and relevant discussions.
“Scaling up our India operations is a key focus area for us. We already have three Sales and marketing offices in the country; one each in Mumbai, Gurgaon and Bengaluru.” says Hari.
LinkedIn operates with variety of advertisers from across sectors, including American Express, Jet Airways, CNN, Volkswagen etc. which has made it conventional and accessible for various genres of people and companies.
Recommendations, which can possibly be termed a part of its USP of this network, is sometimes also compared to the ‘pluses’ and ‘likes’ of Google Plus and Facebook respectively.
The web site has three layers of consumers, namely - customers, recruiters and advertisers and exponentially increasing the database is not what they want but providing quality service to existing user is they vouch for.
To target the working professionals of India, LinkedIn India recently collaborated with the social networking giant Twitter and this association has proved to be a winner for them.
In last 3 years, India has established to be one of the largest markets for LinkedIn, having successfully involving 100 corporate as active recruiters on its website. Back in October, LinkedIn had announced the LinkedIn Talent Pipeline that will create a centralized place for recruiters to manage all the leads which they gather through LinkedIn, to streamline lead generation and follow-up. The pipeline is still to become active but it will surely make LinkedIn an undeniable best resource for recruiters.
iMedia Conenction wishes LinkedIn much more success and a great future.
