Korean mobile giant, Samsung India has appointed former Aircel CMO, Rahul Saighal as its new Chief Marketing Officer. Saighal who had joined country’s fifth largest company, Aircel in 2007 replaces Elkana Ezekiel who is set to join an Ahmedabad based consumer products company, Zydus Wellness as Managing Director.
Samsung, which sold 97.6 million phones in the last quarter and more than 300 million throughout the year, is world’s second largest mobile phone maker. The company’s growth was led particularly by smartphones sales in high end Galaxy range (SII, Note, Nexus) and less expensive models such as the Galaxy Ace. It has also been attracting the users by producing some of the most elegantly designed products like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Note.
Saighal has completed his MBA in marketing from IIM Calcutta and was working with Uninor prior to Aircel in 2005, as a regional brand director in Thailand.
An economics graduate, Saighal’s experience in the telecom industry will definitely help Samsung to excel in Indian markets.
