Rohit Sharma former CEO of Reliance Digital along with two of his former colleagues Vaibhav Odhekar and Sanjeev Singha, has launched Wopshop.com, an online kids toy store.

An E-Commerce portal, Wopshop.com specializes in toys from Indian and International brands. The online shopping portal has tied up with most of the tier A, B and C toy manufacturers and importers in the country. In addition to this, it is also getting toys from other countries like Europe, China and the USA. Wopshop caters to age groups from 0-12 years and will soon enter into stationary, home entertainment and publishing.

Talking about his venture into ecommerce, Rohit Sharma, CEO of Wopshop.com, said, "There were three primary reasons for entering into the e-commerce space - the great potential this segment offers, the opportunity to explore the kids segment, which is still unchartered territory in the e-commerce space, and the expertise our core team has accumulated over a period of time working at Zapak."

Sharma who joined Reliance in 2006 has 12 years of experience in the Internet and digital entertainment industry. He had previously worked in companies like Times Internet Ltd and Cyber Media India Ltd. Vaibhav Odhekar and Sanjeev Singha have also worked in the industry and have eight and 11 years of experience respectively.

A self funded company Wopshop will soon be raising funds for its expansion. Sharma said, “In the coming few months, we will be focusing on our product catalogue, sourcing of goods, customer acquisition, good deals and most importantly creating a beautiful experience for the customers.”

Consumers can choose from different categories like infants, toddlers, boys and girls. Currently, the online kids store offers cash on delivery and netbanking options for payments, but intends to initiate the credit card and debit card facility in the next 2-3 days. It offers free shipping across the country. The site provides daily discounts and offers which will eventually increase the number or shoppers.

The new website is bound to face competition from various other kids portals who specialise in toys such as kidloo and redbell besides sites such as firstcry and babyoye who are in baby products as also generic e-com firms who also sell toys such as Indiaplaza and Homeshop18 among others.
