160 million users pay smarter with InMobi and Opera

InMobi’s SmartPay and Opera Software have come together to bring InMobi's SmartPay mobile payment platform to Opera's more than 160 million mobile browser users worldwide.

InMobi SmartPay will enable Opera users to pay seamlessly for digital goods in key markets around the globe, when they make purchases with some of the leading publishers that partner with InMobi. The two companies are committed to providing choice to consumers, mobile content developers and app developers, by building viable third-party monetization solutions in the mobile browsing and computing space.

Opera Payment Exchange (OPX) is rolling out in association with billing and processing partners including Bango, InMobi SmartPay and Yandex.Money. OPX provides APIs enabling publishers and developers to integrate transaction capabilities into their mobile web content. According to Opera, OPX also is designed to appeal to payment providers and gateways weary about inconsistent user experiences and fear of fraud, deliver one-click purchases as well as native support for payment instruments. Opera will roll out the service across the globe in the year ahead.

SmartPay intends to provide mobile content such as apps, games and videos and virtual goods across geographies with limited involvement of the developers in the app monetization process. Elaborating about the partnership Piyush Shah, Vice President, InMobi SmartPay said, “This partnership is key in helping us accelerate our ambitious expansion plans, by bringing our solution to mobile web publishers who can now monetize Opera’s mobile users easily. Opera browser is omnipresent on all the major mobile platforms like Java, Blackbery, Android, Symbian and iOS. Moreover, Opera recently joined hands with telecom operators like Vodafone and Idea to expand its browser option. The browser also delivers tools, distribution, engagement, monetization and market insights to developers, publishers and brands around the world is used by 250 million people.
