Fashion portal Myntra.com has appointed former Bharti-Walmart exec Ganesh Subramanian as its Chief Merchandising Officer. He will be responsible for product selection at Myntra.
Subramanium served Softlines (Fashion, Footwear and Accessories) business of the Bharti-Walmart joint venture, as a Vice President, where he helped establish and reposition fashion in the hypermarket business.
He also had successful stint with Reliance Trends as its Asst. Vice President – Apparel and was also instrumental in the launch of Tommy Hilfiger (an Arvind Brands joint venture) in India during his tenure as their Head of Operations.
Founded in February 2007, Myntra was started by IIT alumni Mukesh Bansal, Ashutosh Lawania, and Vineet Saxena in Bangalore. It has been funded by top tier Venture Capital funds such as IndoUS, IDG & Accel Partners.
Talking about the appointment of Subramanium, Mukesh Bansal, Founder and CEO, Myntra.com said, “Being the largest online Fashion retailer in India, merchandizing is a core competency of the business. Ganesh brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in merchandizing planning and will be playing a key role in taking Myntra's catalogue and offering to next level.”
